Norddeutsches
Round-Dance-Treffen

short history of the meeting :

very soon after club foundation the idea was born to establish a two-day special dance.

Adequate organizers and a suitable room (Haus der Jugend auf dem Stintfang) have
been found. Soon they came to an agreement about the dances´ name. The first idea was „northern lights dance“, but then they decided - for that time rather unusual – for a complete german name and called the dance „Norddeutsches Round-Dance-Treffen“.
The first few years theprogram was round-dance with squares between.

And so - in February 1981 – our first special dance came off – with provisional badges !

Already in 1982 the meeting was transferred to that hall were it takes place nowadays.

Unpleasantness as very short cuer declines or postponements up to a very short
term removal of the complete meeting into another dancing hall could not
discourage the responsible people to continue.

1986 we changed the meeting to an „only round-dance program“ with no longer
square-dance in between.

1995 the meeting changed to a one-day meeting (only Saturday)

2004 our club celebrated its 25th anniversary. The special took place at two days again.
Exactly 100 dancers found the way to Hamburg – new record for the special !

2005 the „Norddeutsche Round-Dance-Treffen“ returned to a one-day-meeting.

This year (2006) we celebrated our 25th meeting and we had with 122 dancers so
many people than ever before !
